VIDEO: Watercoloring the NEW! Darling Dahlias on BetterPress™ Cotton Panels

Hello friends! I just dropped a new stamp set in the store! The Darling Dahlias is another large floral set that you have all come to know and love from me. I’ve had this one here for quite a while now and finally decided to pop it in the store. I was so excited to use it and could not resist pulling out the watercolors!

In my last video, I went over the Spellbinders BetterPress™ system and a few of you had some reservations about the cost of the BetterPress Cotton Panels. Understandably, it’s a bit pricier than we are used to paying for cardstock. At first glance, it can seem like it might be overpriced. So, I decided to put my brush where my mouth is and thoroughly test the quality of this watercolor paper, and the Darling Dahlias stamp set was the perfect subject to use with it

As you can see in the results below, this paper handled traditional watercolor phenomenally! It doesn’t hurt that the image I started with was absolutely stunning as well! ;o)

The large scale of the florals is perfect for all you colorists out there. But, it’s just as gorgeous heat embossed, ink blended, etc.

Whenever I do a watercolor piece, inevitably some of you gasp in horror if I stamp over it or cut it up. LOL So, I decided to come up with a Pocket Frame card to slip the finished watercolor piece into.

This is great for those who don’t want to stamp over your finished work. It also allows the recipient to remove the watercolor piece and frame it if they want to. I will have a separate video on creating the Pocket Frame Card. So be sure to check back soon!
