The Power of Ink – Gothic Roses ft. Honey Bee Stamps

Fall is approaching, and with that, Halloween! Now, I’ve never been much of a maker when it comes to Halloween. But, I do LOVE seeing all of the amazing creative makes during this time of year. I decided to use what I had on hand and a bit of ink to turn my every day products into a creepy gothic rose arrangement fit for a crypt. Be sure to check out the process by watching the video below.

Honestly, this turned out even better than I had anticipated! I am definitely hooked now and you will be seeing more Halloween makes from me! And, it wasn’t hard at all to transform these usually bright and cheery florals into this dark moody home decor piece.

The Lovely Layers Collection from Honey Bee Stamps was the perfect starting point. I used the Roses and a couple of the Greenery sets for the focal arrangement. You can find the specific sets I used linked in the supplies at the end of this post. I started with solid color cardstock and ink blended lots of depth and shadow to each layer with Black Soot Distress Ink.

For the background, I used one of the patterned papers from the Grain and Grunge Paper Pad from Honey Bee Stamps. I loved the old distressed patchwork of wood on this paper. I added more grit and grunge by ink blending the edges and using an old gift card to scrape black ink across it. I then used a sea sponge to add lots of speckles and imperfections using Ground Express Distress Oxide and Black Soot. I messily stitched the edges and added some cheese cloth behind the floral arrangement. For the sentiment, I used the new Halloween Icons BetterPress plate and die to add “Happy Haunting”. Finally, I adhered the panel to a thick piece of chipboard to turn it into a home decor piece to display in my office. LOVE!

I hope that you enjoyed today’s project. As always, thanks for stopping by!
