VIDEO: Detailed Ink Blending on Die Cuts

I had so much fun with the last project, that I just had to try more of the Lovely Layers Series from Honey Bee Stamps. This time I wanted to step up the blending a bit as well and see how much detail I could get using the Bitty Bunny Blending Brushes. I chose the Peonies, Hydrangea, and Wildflowers dies for this one and used PURE Color inks for my blending.

I really was surprised by just how much dimension I was able to achieve with little effort. You could certainly take it even further with markers or colored pencils if you choose to, but I’m quite happy with it. Be sure to watch the video to see how it all comes together!

I kept the color palette very simple. For the Peonies I used Shell Pink, Little Piggy, and V.I.Pink. The Bell Flower is Cockleshell, and I used Last Leaf for the leaves of both flowers. The Hydrangeas were colored using Last Leaf and Little Piggy, while the leaves are Mojito.

The Lovely Layers Peony set has dies to create one large open peony, a leaf segment, and a bud. I knew I wanted two larger peonies in my bouquet, but I also wanted them to be slightly different. So I created a second peony, omitting the second to last layer and then I cut off the front petals. This gave me another, slightly smaller peony, that doesn’t look identical the the other one.

I wanted a large sentiment to stand up to the large florals and chose to white heat emboss “love you” from the Miss You Big Time stamp set on gray cardstock.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed today’s project!
