VIDEO Collaboration: Watercolor And Hot Foil

Today I have a fun collaboration for you! The fabulous Kelly Taylor and I thought it would be fun to pick the same set and both create cards in our favorite mediums. Not only is she one of my very best friends, she just happens to be an amazing colorist. We settled on Poinsettia Bouquet. This set is gorgeous and features 2 large bouquets that are perfect for coloring!

Of course, you know I chose watercolor. Surprise. But, I also wanted to experiment with elevating watercolor by adding some Hot Foil.

Be sure to check out the video above to see how these cards came together. I love the drama and elegance these cards have while still being quite clean and simple.

The gold foiled double border looks amazing over the watercolored background. And the matching circle frames the sentiment perfectly while mirroring the background.

I actually had an extra watercolor panel that I had painted last year and never got around to turning into a card. I decided that this layout would be perfect for it as well!

Going head-to-head with someone as talented as Kelly was a little intimidating. She’s a wizard with Copics, and I just knew she was going to knock this out of the park. Now, I wasn’t initially overly thrilled with where my cards were going. But, I have to say, the hot foil added just that Wow! factor I was looking for. And now I really do love how they turned out.

Now, be sure check out Kelly’s video here, because I have a feeling you are going to LOVE it! I’m thinking we should make this a monthly series, what do you think?

As always, thanks for stopping by!
