Two Cards, Same Supplies – Thinking of You

I’ve got another gorgeous set from our June 2019 Release to share with you today! Say “hello” to Thinking of You.

Thinking of You 4×6″ stamp set. MSRP $15 USD

This little sucker is so much fun! In fact, this set right here stole the show for me while I was creating the sample cards for this release. I think I ended up with 9 cards for this set alone. Today, I’m sharing two of those cards. Both of these use the exact same supplies in slightly different ways – resulting in two completely different, yet similar cards.

Thinking of You is a multi-step or image building set based off of some of my Copic illustrations. Sometimes, these image layering stamps can be intimidating, but this is another set that I have designed with “ease of use” in mind. The layers are simple to line line up, minimal – in some cases just two layers – and again, they aren’t illustrated to match up exactly. You end up with a very artistic loose style floral image.

I chose to work with a very bright and summery palette. I used a mix of Wplus9 PURE COLOR Dye Inks, Memento Dew Drop and Hero Arts inks.

I stamped out a few cluster arrangements on scratch paper and chose one to go with to stamp some custom patterned paper. I knew I would be layering this, so I went with Neenah 80 lb cardstock. I trimmed a panel down to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″ and stamped the sentiment first. I used two-toned stamping – inking the stamp first with Hero Arts Pool Mid-Tone Ink, and then inking the bottom half with PURE COLOR Nautical Navy – before stamping. This is one of my favorite techniques, and I used it on my floral images as well.

I then repeatedly stamped my chosen floral cluster around my sentiment. I like to stamp the outline image first, then fill in the solid portions. (But, these can be used without the outline as well.) I added a little interest by stamping the flower centers images in Wild Mango randomly around the floral clusters.

To frame out my sentiment, I used the hexagon label from the Wplus9 Welcome Die. First I used it to emboss around the sentiment by adding an embossing mat to my Gemini Jr. sandwich. This causes the die to emboss instead of cut.

Then, cut the die as well. I ink blended a piece of white cardstock with Wild Mango, blending it out to white and then die cut the hexagon label from that. I adhered the border portion on this card and saved the interior portion for my next card.

To finish off the card, I mounted the panel with a little fun foam to a 5 x 6 1/2″ white card base that I stamped using the striped image from our Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set. This is a larger card, but fits nicely into a 5×7″ envelope. And I loved having the extra real estate to play around with!

Next, I used all of the same supplies to create a standard A2 card in a bit of a more clean and simple design.

I stamped another card base using the same strip image and ink. I used the interior portion of the ink blended hexagon label from the previous card and stamped “Thinking of You” in black. I cut one more of the label and and adhered both, the ink blended label and white border to my card base.

I fussy cut a few of the floral clusters and adhered them as well.

Finally, I heat embossed the “and missing you sentiment” in white onto white cardstock and ink blended over it with Hero Arts Pool Mid-Tone Ink to match, and adhered it with foam tape.

This card came together in about 15 minutes thanks to reusing most of the elements from the first card.

I’ve mentioned that I’m trying to explore and play with color more lately, and I have to say…I really like how these turned out! How about you?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you enjoyed today’s post and this closer look at the new Thinking of You stamp set.
