VIDEO: Stretching a Pre-Fab Design

Hello friends! Today’s post is sponsored by Honey Bee Stamps. As always, I get to choose what I want to use and I couldn’t resist the Bountiful Banner suite of products. I often shy away from pre-fab designs. The pre thought out design is really beautiful, and makes creating well designed cards quick and easy, with out too much thought. But, I usually look for products to be versatile and have many different design choices – so I often overlooked these types of pre-built designs. Well, I was in the mood for a challenge and I was happy to prove myself wrong!

And honestly, it didn’t turn out to be challenging at all. Just check out how many wildly different designs and looks I was able to achieve in just one creative session!

I started with using the design as intended. I wanted to get a feel for the products and just warm up a bit. This is a gorgeous set and I could see reusing this exact layout and design by swapping out colors and/or mediums.

Next up, I stuck with the same colors, but wanted to go a little bit more clean and simple. Used in it’s entirety, the design covers an entire A2 panel. But…by splitting the design and only using portions of it I was able to come up with a completely different look.

The bright colored florals paired with lots of open white space really packs a punch. And that Burlap 3D Embossing folder as the perfect amount of interest.

It’s no secret around here that I love a good autumnal color palette. So, I decided to switch up the colors a bit. Again, I chose to split the final panel. But…this time I paired it with a large flourished sentiment from the Give Thanks product suite.

Wow! That really changed up the look, didn’t it? The continuous white border against the slightly darker background almost gives the appearance that the florals and sentiment are one.

For the last card, I decided to carry on with those fall colors and take it a bit more vintage inspired. I went back to using the full panel, but this time I pushed it to the back and brought in a strong focal point using the Lovely Layers: Autumn Bouquet. And the results are stunning!

I was pleasantly surprised by how many different looks I was able to achieve so easily. I’m definitely going to reconsider these types of designs going forward! 😍
