VIDEO: Get More From Your Layering Stencils

If you love layering stencils, I’ve got a fun one for you today!

I happen to really love layering stencils, especially floral layering stencils. Sometimes though, they can feel a little restrictive since the pattern is already pre-defined. I love to get creative and really make a design “my own”. You know? And at first glance, you might think that you can only create that one design. But that is not true, my friend. Check out today’s video where I share how you can create totally new patterns by isolating individual elements in a design featuring the Autumn Delight Stencils from Honey Bee Stamps.

This stencil pack has six layers and creates a gorgeous all over floral pattern. For one card, I stenciled the pattern as intended and then used the Burlap 3D Embossing Folder on the resulting panel. I really loved the results and felt like it looked like printed fabric. It really softened the design as well and shifted the overall vibe into the vintage zone. So I ran with it!

I added some very light ink distressing around the edges and added a few ink splatters using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. This is a highly underrated color, in my opinion. It’s a beautiful soft and neutral brown that pairs beautifully with Kraft. Another stand out on this card is the Spring Vines Layering Frames. I layered several of the frames together and added my sentiment right in the center.

For the next card, I got creative and created a radial spray of florals to encase my sentiment. In the video above walk you step-by-step through the process of creating this. I also provide many tips for planning your design and getting the best results.

And I certainly can not get away without mentioning those gorgeous ink colors! I’ve been on the hunt for a line of inks to replace my Wplus9 inks for general stamping and I’ve finally found them. All of the inks used for both cards today are from Pink Fresh Studio, and I could not be happier with them!

There are a ton of great inks on the market and I’m not one to be brand loyal. I usually just buy the colors I like, regardless of the brand. However, as many of you seasoned crafters are aware, there are some variables to inks. The formula, the pad material, the colors, the technique you want to use them for. I personally prefer a linen ink pad and a dye ink formula for general stamping. These check both of those boxes. I also like a sophisticated color palette and am particularly drawn to lines that have several tints, tones, and shades of a single color. I’m definitely going to be adding more colors to my collection of these!
