Easy Ink Blending ft. Modern Roses

Have you seen the new products that we just dropped in the store? I. Am. In. Love. It is a small release, but boy is it mighty! Truth be told, even I underestimated this one guys. But don’t worry, restocks are already on their way! Once I broke into these bad boys and got them inky…I seriously could not stop.

So let’s start with the newest addition to the Modern Florals series. Say “hello” to Modern Roses.

No time to color? Heat emboss and ink blend line images for a quick and easy burst of color!

This set is just what the Modern Florals series has been waiting for. The roses are illustrated beautifully and feature that classic rose shape and form. The images are large and scaled to work perfectly with the rest of the flowers in the series.

So of course, I had to pull out a set and combine them. I decided on the Modern Calla Lilies stamps and dies. I knew I wanted to created two cards and one I wanted to encase the label from the new Onward & Upward Die. So, I’d need a lot of flowers and leaves. I decided to go with ink blending to make quick work of it. I used a similar technique here.

I started by stamping all of my images onto white cardstock and heat embossing them in white. I then added color using a distress ink blending tool and Wplus9 PURE COLOR Dye inks in V.I.Pink, Lime Light and Miami Spice. I started by covering the entire image with a light coat of ink, and then came in with a Fantastix sponge to intensify the color in a mored targeted approach to create subtle dimension.

I stamped the background of a 4 1/2 x 6 1/4″ Dove Grey card base with our Wood Planks stamp set in White ink.

To house my sentiment, I used the label from the new Onward & Upward Die. I stamped the main sentiment from the new Thinking of You stamp set in Black, with the sub-sentiment heat-embossed on a white piece of cardstock that I then ink blended with the same V.I.Pink ink.

I actually really enjoyed working with the larger area of the A6 card. In fact, I’ll have a couple of larger format cards to show with you over the next couple of weeks.

I had a few left over heat embossed images, so I decided to make another version. This time, I omitted the targeted ink blending with the Fantastix and just added a little heaver color towards the centers with the ink blending tool. I think it is equally as striking.

I just love the vibrancy of these colors! And I have been on a personal mission to use more color. This fits the bill perfectly. Although, I couldn’t resist tempering it with that Dove Grey panel die cut with the new Stitched Ironworks Background Die. Isn’t that gorgeous! I was seriously on the fence about manufacturing this one. I’ve been sitting on it for a while, and all I can say is, “why?” LOL LOVE it.

Again, for the sentiments, I used the new Thinking of You stamp set and the label from the Onward & Upward Die. But look guys…the sentiment is in COLOR! Two colors at that. And I’m not mad about it either. Go figure.

I stamped “Thinking of You” in Miami Spice and then stamp “You are often in my thoughts, but especially today.” directly over it in V.I.Pink. I really love this sentiment because it can be used for anything from sympathy to wedding to birthday.

I had a very hard time choosing where to start with what to share…and I’ve got lots to share with you all. This set is perfect for coloring with markers and pencils, watercoloring, heat embossing and ink blending like I shared today. So many possibilities, and when you combine it with the other florals in this series, you can make some gorgeous bouquets!

Like I mentioned, this release is a small one, but it gave me some time to really enjoy the sets and create a lot with them. Here is a look at the new products now available:
