Wplus9 Meets Honey Bee – Level Up Your Dies With Dimension

I’ve got a gorgeous one for you today! One of my favorite companies is Honey Bee Stamps, especially their die cuts. Melissa was kind enough to send me the Lovely Layers: Wildflowers and I could not wait to use them. I instantly knew I was going to pair them with our Lavinia Layers Die, and man! do they look amazing together. This card is packed with dimension. From embossing to color blending to physical dimension with die cuts and foam tape.

Isn’t she lovely? And this is a surprisingly easy card with relatively few supplies. I started by died cutting the floral pieces of the Lovely Layers: Wildflowers die from colored cardstock. I cut one of the Poppies and the Wood Anemone from white cardstock . I wanted to add some color and shading to all of the pieces. The Bitty Bunny Blender brushes were perfect for the task. The small size allowed me to gently add color to each layer, and the blends came out so smooth!

I used Distress Ink for all of my blending. For the Poppies I used Abandoned Coral and Scattered Straw. Shaded Lilac and Weathered Wood was used for the petals of the Wood Anemone, and I added a bit of Scattered Straw to the center. For the Bellflowers I used Scattered Straw and tiny bit of Abandoned Coral, and Crushed Olive and Mowed Lawn was used for all of the foliage. Starting with colored card stock and then using ink to add a bit of shading is a quick and easy way to add dimension to your die cuts.

Once all of the pieces were cut and colored, I used my fingers and a pen to gently bend and shape the pieces. Since these are florals, this adds a bit of organic movement to the petals that really kicks it up a notch. I adhered each layer using liquid adhesive and foam squares to build the flowers. Again, more dimension!

I wanted the perfect frame for this gorgeous floral arrangement and Lavinia Layers did not disappoint! I used the die to first create and impression. Instead of using my cutting plates in my Platinum 6, I used the embossing mat. This left the impression of the die in my panel instead of cutting it. I then used the label die included in Lavinia Layers to cut a label. Just look at all of that embossed detail!

I wanted a simple and delicate sentiment for the card, something that could compliment the design without adding any extra bulk. This sentiment from our The Little Things stamp set was perfect. I stamped it in black in the upper right hand corner of my label.

I arranged my flowers in a cluster in the lower left hand corner of my label and adhered, again I used a mix of liquid adhesive and foam squares. I made sure to arrange the flowers to gently encase the sentiment and adhered the label to the center of the card base, popping it up with foam squares.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. As always, thanks for stopping by!
