Welcome Neighbor

Moving to a new area can be difficult. As a “military brat”, I know. It’s always nice to be welcomed to a new neighborhood and it’s amazing how something as simple as a card can help with the transition.

Today, I’ve got two cards to share with you that are perfect for the occasion and are super easy to create.

Both cards feature the same products, layout and color combo. I started by creating my wreath for both cards. Anytime I’m creating multiple cards, I try to do any similar components all at once to cut down on time.

Featured Products: Welcome Wreath and Wood Planks stamp sets and Welcome wafer die.

I stamped the wreaths from the Welcome Wreath stamp set in the following order and colors:

For the background of the first card, I used the new Wood Planks stamp set stamped in Wplus9 PURECOLOR Fairy Dust ink to add a subtle woodgrain pattern to the background.

To carry the woodgrain pattern into the focal point, I stamped the same pattern and die cut the little house from the Welcome wafer die from it. For the sentiment, I used the large script “Welcome” and the sans serif “neighbor” – both from the Welcome Wreath stamp set – stamped in Wplus9 PURECOLOR Black ink.

Before adhering anything, I used the Select-A-Size Edge Dies from Concord & 9th to cut a fish tail banner with a cute faux stitched detail.

Die cut shapes from stamped or patterned paper to carry colors or patterns throughout a design.

I love the way all of the neutral colors around the wreath make those bright orange and greens pop even more! I finished off the wreath with a little bit of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew.

For the next card, I kept the general design the same and just swapped out a few details.

I decided to highlight the bright and cheerful orange by using it for my sentiment and the bow on the wreath. I custom colored a bit of white card stock using a blending tool and Wplus9 PURECOLOR Pumpkin Spice ink and die cut the bow using the Welcome wafer die from it.

To complete the sentiment, I heat embossed “to the neighborhood” in white onto a 1/4″ strip cut from the custom colored card stock.

This time, I opted for a Dove Grey card base and stamped the smaller woodgrain pattern from Wood Planks in Wplus9 PURECOLOR White pigment ink across the background.

To finish off the wreath this time, I used a few Studio Katia Round Drops and adhered them with a little Multi-Medium Matte.

It’s always nice to feel officially “welcomed”. Whether it’s a new cubicle neighbor at work or a new family in the neighborhood, the sentiment is always appreciated!

Two lovely cards, and a beautiful new blog-home, too, Dawn! LOve the wood-plank stamping – the perfect touch for that something special. I’m in my 11th home … I’d move again tomorrow, if our hearts desired it. hmmm I have my eye on that darling tiny house of yours!

I love your card Dawn! We are a military family (this summer will be our 9th move in 17 years and our 6th country) and I can attest to how important it is to welcome new folks; this set is perfect for that! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
