Watercoloring Stamped Images ft. Honey Bee Stamps

It’s been a minute since we did some watercoloring around here and I needed to fix that ASAP. Today’s cards all featuring the Honey Bee Stamps Floral Vase stamps and dies. Once I got going, I couldn’t stop and ended up with three beauties that all feature the same floral image, yet all have their own unique look. My favorite watercolor style has a more laid back, relaxed and expressive look. While I do like and appreciate hyper realism, it’s just not where I find my joy when it comes to watercolor.

In the video below, I share my approach to this image in a more relaxed watercolor style. I hope you enjoy!

Once I had all of my images watercolored. I used the Floral Vase Die to cut out some of the images and started created a few cards. For the first one, I used the entire vase and layered the smaller portion of the bouquet on top. I used a little foam adhesive behind this layer to add a bit of dimension and allow me to tuck the floral pick included in the set into the bouquet. For the background panel, I used the Spring Medley 3D embossing folder. I wanted to go a little shabby chic with this card, so I “dirtied” the panel up a bit by swiping Pumice Stone Oxide Ink randomly over it.

I created a little layered backdrop behind the vase to ground it using one of the layers from the Honey Bee Opulent Frames Die and a bit of burlap. For the sentiments, I grabbed the Fresh Squeezed stamps and die also from Honey Bee and stamped them with Ground Espresso Oxide Ink. A little stitching and twine finished it off.

Next up, I wanted to share how you can get get a completely different look using the same image.

You don’t always have to use an image in its entirety. I decided to chop off the vase and used just the floral bouquet. I cut it at an angle, which left me with some extra floral bits to use around the perimeter of my focal panel. Again, I used the Spring Medley 3D embossing folder for the background, but I trimmed it down a bit smaller this time and matted it with Gold cardstock from Spellbinders. For the sentiment, I used the same set and heat embossed it in gold this time. I love how elegant this one is in comparison to the last card, while using the same main products.

Finally, I created another very clean and simple card using the last large vase that I painted.

This one’s pretty self explanatory. This time, I reached for the My Favorite Flower stamp set for the sentiment, again, stamped in Ground Expresso Oxide Ink.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s cards and video! Thanks for dropping by!
