VIDEO: Detailed Watercolor ft. Lovely Lilies

Hello friends! I have a special one for you today. If you’ve been here long, you are familiar with the extremely talented Kelly Taylor (formerly Latevola). Kelly is an amazing colorist and just extremely talented, all around. Some of you may also know that she likes to illustrate as well. And, she’s pretty darn amazing at it too!

Well, she has finally taken the plunge into illustrating stamps and has released her first stamp set – Lovely Lilies – with The Rabbit Hole Designs!

I am seriously beside myself with excitement, and SO PROUD of her! I couldn’t wait to watercolor these beautiful images!

You knew a no-line watercolor card was in order, didn’t you? I chose to use the large Lily arrangement stamped repeatedly around the perimeter of my card. I knew this would give me several lilies to color – and I was stoked! I decided to go with a mix of colored Tiger Lilies.

For the sentiment, I pulled out my Glimmer machine and added a border of Satin Rose Gold foil to a panel and stamped one of the sentiments included in the set. I love how clean and simple this card turned out. It really allows the imagery to shine.

As I mentioned in the video, I originally thought I was going to add some additional flowers to the previous card, but decided against it. So, that left me with a few extra pieces that I had already painted and die cut. Cool – another card it is!

I went with a Pop-Up Shadow Box Flat Shaker card. This one is one of those that is easier to show than tell, so be sure to check out the video for more on it. I did used the new A2 Shaker Acetate Sheets from Rabbit Hole (linked below), and Man! I love those things. Seriously. Love.

The Clover Petals 3D embossing folder and the This One’s For the Girls stamp and dies – both from Honey Bee Stamps – finished this card off perfectly.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope that you enjoyed today’s projects!

These are beautiful cards! Thanks for using the hot press paper. I’ve gotten used to using cold press and need to try hot press and practice it more. I totally understand why you didn’t have Kelly design for you for her first adventure into designing stamps. There is no better gift to a person than to let them apply for a job or in this case, design stamps for a company they do not know personally and let them soar or struggle on their own. Nothing builds confidence than that! Maybe down the road you can ask her to design some sets for WPlus9?!

    I wish I could re-create these!
I have watched your watercolor process for many years and haven’t found the courage to try.

And Congrats, Kelly for such wonderful images!
