VIDEO: Fast & Fun! Liquid Watercolors

New supplies are always fun, especially if it’s a new medium. I love the whole process of exploring and getting to know mediums. It’s fresh and exciting, and lots of fun. Today we get to take a look at Liquid Watercolors, which have been around for quite some time, but are new to me. Concord & 9th was kind enough to send me their liquid watercolors to try out and I’ve been courting them for the last couple of weeks. To be clear, this is not a review, but I do share some tips and some of my preferences in my video below.

Everyone knows, traditional watercolors are my soulmate. If I could only have one art supply for the rest of my life, it would be watercolors. This is no secret. But luckily, I don’t have to choose! And I was super excited to mess around with these guys and see what I could do with them. Be sure to watch below to see one of my favorite ways to use liquid watercolors.

I couldn’t stop at just one card, I was having too much fun. Plus, I was able to quickly knock out a few cards by using the same basic supplies and layout. Win, Win! They all feature the same basic color palette and our Just Breathe stamp set. I did make each one a little different and have linked all of the supplies featured at the end of the post.

For the first card I used Ballet Slippers, Grapefruit, Buttercup, Marmalade, Stardust, Sprout and Dove Liquid Watercolors. For the sentiment, I used our The Little Things stamp set. When I was finished, I topped off the bird and roses with Liquid ShimmerHoney Bee Stamps.

For the second card, I went with the same layout, but simplified it.

Here, I used Grapefruit, Poppy, Buttercup, Marmalade, Sprout, Parsley, and Dove Liquid Watercolors. For the sentiment I used My Favorite Flower from Honey Bee Stamps.

Finally, I wanted to simplify it even more, but still add a little WOW factor. I used all of the same colors as the first card, except this time I added a drop of the liquid shimmer to each color in my palette. This turned all of the colors into shimmers. It gives a subtle but gorgeous sparkle to the entire card. You can adjust the amount of shimmer by adding more or less to your palette. For the sentiment on this one, I used the ones included in our Just Breathe stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by, I hope that you enjoyed today’s projects!
