Tropic Fever & No-Line Coloring
It’s been a good while since I did a bit of no-line coloring. Lately, I try to stick to techniques that are more approachable and easy to do. But boy have I missed really stretching those creative muscles!
With summer finally here (I think – I’m in Florida, so yeah) I pulled out our previously released Tropic Fever stamps and dies.
These images practically begged to be no-line colored. I stamped all of my images in Gina K. Amalgam Ink in Whisper , colored them with Copic Markers and die cut them using the matching dies. The colors I used are listed below.
- Hibiscus – Y000, Y11, Y35, YR000, YR21, YR24, RV00, RV02, RV23, R24, R37
- Palms and Monstera Leaves – G20, G82, G28, G94, YG11, YG03, BG96
The Whisper Amalgam Ink is super light and can be difficult to see especially once you start adding color. But, If you need it a bit darker, you can stamp your images twice using a stamp platform.
For the background, I wanted to add texture and a geometric pattern without becoming too busy and competing with the vibrant coloring. So I die cut the Trellis Background 2 Die from white for a tone on tone effect.
I think this added just the right amount of interest and adhered it directly to my card base.
For the sentiment, I used the Whimsy Alpha stamps and dies to spell out “Aloha”. I used Wplus9 PURE COLOR Dye Ink in Gala Red which turned out to be a pretty close match for the centers of the hibiscus.
On a whim, I decided to layer the “hello” from our Welcome Die directly over the “Aloha” and really like the effect and look. The rest of the sentiment was heat embossed in white and ink blended with Gala Red to match.
I absolutely love to revisit our older sets and mix them with our newer products. I’d yet to use this set with no-line coloring, so it also gives you a fresh look at an older set as well!
So how about it, do you enjoy seeing us revisit some of our older products? Do you feel like it gives you new inspiration for those sets that you might already have in your stash? I hope so!
Thanks for stopping by!

Dawn, I do love it… and it also reminds me to use them again, and again! AND it reminds me there are some of these items I’ve yet to add to my stash… like the Trellis die!

Only if you really love it. But, I personally think you will, just sayin’. ;o) I’m only a little biased. LOL

My answer is also a big YES! Your projects inspire me to buy the stamps because I love your beautiful cards and you do such a good job of showcasing your new releases with your videos. I am thrilled when you bring out older sets and help me remember how great they are. This card is a stunner!

That’s so kind of you to say Cindy. I’ll be sure to keep trying to pull out those older sets and showcasing them with the new as well!

Gorgeous!! And yes I love to see older sets used. There is simply no way to always buy new and always use new!! And now I have to use this alphabet! Thanks for the push.

Thanks Joan! And yes, if you’ve got, pull it out and show it some love! ;o)
