Spellbinders X Wplus9: Intro to Seahorse Kisses Collection

Hello friends! I am excited to finally share with you a project that I’ve been working on. Spellbinders and I have teamed up to bring you a gorgeous new collection of products! Living on the coast, I have always had an affinity for the coastal lifestyle and decor. Think soft nuetrals with splashes of coral and blues, ocean, seashells, and florals. I wanted to capture all of that in this collection with the same soft, sophisticated, and serene vibe. Meet Seahorse Kisses!

In today’s post, I’m focusing on the projects featuring the Seahorse Floral Glimmer Plate and Dies. This set contains 1 large image Glimmer Plate, and 3 sentiment Glimmer Plates with coordinating dies. The image plate is a beautiful seahorse nestled into and arrangement of shells and poppies. It is generously sized as I wanted to make sure that it would carry an A2 card with little effort. You could certainly add color, but the illustration is so gorgeous, that it makes a statement all on its own. For this first slimline card, I hot foiled it in Gold onto Glacier cardstock.

For the sentiment, I used the Seahorse Garden stamp set, also from the Seahorse Kisses collection, embossed in gold. I will have more on this set later this week. I backed the sentiment with the Fluted Classic Circles Die cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock. All of the Fluted dies work so well with this collection.

Next up, another super simple design. I wanted to show how you can use the image in the background vs. as the focal point.

I hot foiled the image twice on a 4 x 5 1/4″ panel – once slightly offset to the left and then again in the upper right hand corner, rotating the plate to only foil part of the image. I placed the plate so that only the shells and florals were foiled. For this card, I wanted to make that beautiful sentiment the focal point. I used the Seahorse Kisses Sentiment hot foiled in Gold. Again, I used the Mirror Gold Cardstock as a mat.

The next two cards are very elegant and simple. I used the same basic layout for both. For one, I opted for Gold Foil paired with Mirror Gold Cardstock. For the other, I went with Matte Gold Foil and Brushed Gold Cardstock.

Both cards use the sentiment Glimmer Plates included in the Seahorse Garden Glimmer Plate set. You get a large “Thanks” and “Congrats” in a beautiful script font as well as “Sending You An Ocean Of” in a sans-serif font. All three have coordinating dies.

I just love how easy this set makes it to create a card or even a set of cards in no time. I could see making sets of these for gifts in several different colors.

Speaking of color…I’ve kept the samples pretty soft so far, but this image looks absolutely exquisite on dark cardstock as well!

So rich! For this card, I created a mini-slimline. I really love how versatile the sizing of this image is! After I foiled this, I just knew the Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Plate would be a perfect compliment. I used it to create the gold splatters in the background and add a supporting sub sentiment.

And of course, you can always use your favorite medium to bring this image to life with color!

I started by hot foiling the image onto watercolor paper in White Glimmer Hot Foil. If you’ve never tried White Hot Foil, it creates a great resist for watercolor and really stretches your hot foil plates. I did a really loose watercolor to bring out the details and then added a frame using the Fluted Classic Ovals Die. For the background, I used the new Cast Away 3D Embossing Folder from the Seahorse Kisses Collection. The detail in this folder is unbelievable – so much dimension! I added a few watercolored shells from the Seahorse Garden stamp set to finish this one off.

I can’t express how excited I am for this collection. I really hope that you’ve enjoyed the introduction and a closer look at the Seahorse Floral Glimmer Plate and Die. I will be over the next several days with projects from the rest of this collection.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
