Fun & Fresh Modern Designs

I can’t get enough of the My Whole Life stamps and dies. Last week I shared a post with a few wreath cards in a traditional design featuring this set. And today, I wanted to share a couple more fun and fresh, more modern designs.

Both cards feature a clustered focal point with a bold sentiment. Be sure to watch the video above if you’d like to see both cards created from start to finish.

I’m a big fan of clustered focal images, especially with they incorporate sentiments. For this card, I stamped a cluster of flowers making sure to leave room for my sentiment to nestle in. Because I wasn’t using dies to cut out my flowers, and would be able to move and adjust as needed, I did a little pre-planning/arranging on scratch paper first. But it was worth it to cut down on some of the bulk for a more postal friendly design.

The florals were stamped with a variety of Wplus9 PURECOLOR Dye Inks (check the supply list at the end of this post for specific products used) onto Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock. I trimmed down the panel and mounted it on Gina K. Design Peach Bellini Mid-Weight cardstock. This happens to be a pretty good match to our Sweet Nectar ink. Not exact, but pretty darn close!

All of the outlines and filler flowers were stamped in Wplus9 PURECOLOR Dye Ink in Black. You guys know I have zero qualms about using competitors products and actually love to! Hey, if it’s good…it’s good. But this is the crispest, blackest black I’ve used, and I’ve used a lot of Black inks. LOL I think that bold deep black really elevates the softer colors and keeps the card from looking too juvenile. How about you?

For the next card, I wanted to get a little more eclectic.

I started by ink blending a little Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China onto a panel of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock and spritzing with a little water to activate the ink and create texture. Once dry, I used the My Whole Life Die to cut little shapes from the background.

I stamped and die cut the flowers and arranged them in a little spray, adhering some directly to the card base and popping others up with foam adhesive.

I finished both cards off with an “enjoy your day” sentiment heat embossed in white.
