Create Stunning Cards w/Poinsettia Builder

Christmas crafting is, hands down, my favorite kind of crafting. It’s kind of like anything goes. I love the variety of designs and mediums and all of the “extras” that you can add.

That being said, my absolute favorite style is clean and rustic. There is something so comforting and charming about it. And our new Poinsettia Builder and Bells and Bows stamp sets cover this genre well!

I knew I would want to create several cards with these sets, so I took a craft session to just stamp and cut a load of the images in various colors and combinations. This left me with a ton of images to play and create on the fly with.

For today’s cards, I used the poinsettias stamped in a deep rich red – using Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink, Fired Brick Distress Ink, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink. I created an oblong arrangement to cascade up my card and then filled in with some pine from the Bells and Bows stamp set.

I always like to add a little bit “extra” to my Christmas cards. Here, I used a paint brush to selectively add Versamark to my images and then heat embossed using WOW! embossing powder in White Puff Powder. For the sentiment, I used one the beautiful greetings from our Poinsettia Bouquets stamp set and die cut it using the matching die.

I wanted something in the background, but nothing to distracting. The Tim Holtz Ledger Script CMS241 by Stampers Anonymous was perfect. I inked it up with Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink and spritzed it with a little water before stamping it on a 4×6″ panel. The whole panel was then adhered to a 5×7″ card base.

While I was creating with the red poinsettias, I decided to create another simple rustic design. I started by creating a little swag, again, filling in around the poinsettias with some pine and berries from the Bells and Bows stamp set.

I then created another of the same swag so that I could flank my sentiment. I die cut a 4×6″ panel using our 5×7 Layers Die and adhered the florals using liquid adhesive and foam tape.

If you’ve been visiting my blog for a while, you know that the ol’ paper crimper always makes an appearance during the holidays. This year is no exception! I cut a panel from Kraft cardstock and inked it with white pigment ink after running it through the paper crimper.

Everything was adhered to a 5×7″ card base. I have really been enjoying the larger format of the 5×7″ cards and the extra design room it gives me. To finish this one off, I again selectively added a bit of WOW! White Puff Powder to the images. A little raw twine finished off each floral swag.

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards! I have a ton of holiday inspiration coming your way. If you haven’t already, be sure to join our Wplus9 – Encourage Creativity Facebook Group. We’ve been having a blast creating live every week and would love to have you join us!
