Video: EASY! No Fail Watercolor and New Stamps

Oh, I’ve got a fun one for you today! Y’all know watercolor is my ride or die. And I’m always encouraging all of you to give it a try. I’m also consistently on a mission to bring you tips and tricks on getting the best results with minimal effort while on this journey. I’ve paired and easy, no-fail watercolor technique with our newly released Just Breath stamp set!

How gorgeous is that? And…it took about 5 minutes from start to finish. Seriously. Ink up your stamp, spritz it with water, and stamp. Then use water and a brush to minimally move the wet ink around. That’s it. Don’t believe me? Watch the video below to se it in action!

For this technique, I like to use mixed media paper or Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock – smooth side. The sizing on these types of paper allows the ink and water to sit on top of the paper a little longer, allowing you to move it around a bit. But you can try different papers you may have on hand, different papers will yield slightly varied results.

Just look at how dreamy this image turned out. I love that the crispness of the stamped image remains while providing a bit of color to loosely “color” the image.

I created a fun mat for my focal panel using a similar technique to incorporate the same colors and a bit of texture to the background. Be sure to watch the video to see how. I added some machine stitching around the edges of the panels for bit of interest. And I used the gorgeous sentiments also included in Just Breathe to finish it off.

I was so in love with this color combo – Distress Oxide inks in Ground Espresso, Crackling Campfire, and Lucky Clover – that I had to make a second card as well. This time I added a few splatters and a couple little extra splotches of color to the background. Instead of machine stitching this time, I opted to use the 4 Bar Stitched Rectangles Die to cut and add faux stitching to the focal panel.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s project! As always, thanks for dropping by!

Absolutely gorgeous! I’ve done the stamp & spritz, but with solid stamps & not using the wet paintbrush. Can’t wait to try this & the stamp set is going on my wishlist! I recently re-watched a Christmas card video you did last year. Your work is so inspiring–thank you!
