Winter 2019 Release: Most Wonderful

Snowmen are one of my favorite Christmas motifs. Which is why it surprised me that I’d yet to create a snowman themed stamp set. Until now, that is!

Most Wonderful is just that – the most wonderful snowman stamp set, for me. It is a layering set of cute vintage style snowmen with a little robin free to boot!

For this card, I wanted to create a fun landscape as a backdrop for my snowman. The new Snow Scenes stamp set is perfect for this! It has a couple of different sizes/clusters of trees as well as snow drift images. The largest snow drift can even double as a mountain range off in the distance!

I stamped two clusters of clusters of trees in Silver Lining onto a panel that I had ink blended with Bo Peep. I then stamped the snow drifts with Fairy Dust and immediately sprinkled some WOW! embossing powder on in White Puff. I even sprinkled a bit on the sky and tree using my fingers for a light sprinkling and then heat embossed it from the back so that the powder would not fly away. I love the texture and falling snow effect this created!

I used the same embossing powder on my snowman as well. I wanted to him to really stand out against the monochromatic background and went with red for his hat, mitten and scarves. I again, used Distress Oxide Ink (Candied Apple) and a sponge to apply the ink to my stamp. I then added another layer of red using the detail stamp layers.

Next I wanted to create a night sky. The darker background is perfect for making the white snow man pop.

I started my ink blending a panel of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Chipped Sapphire and adding some splatters of water, once dry I added another think layer of color to soften where the color a lifted a bit much.

Again, I used Snow Scenes to add snow on the ground. This time I used WOW Glittered Embossing Powder in Singing in the Rain. It has a soft gray base with iridescent glitter. Perfect for “glistening snow”.

The stamps for hat and mittens are separate from the scarf, making it easy to create multi-colored accessories. Here I went with Distress Oxides in Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry. To stamp the shadows of the snowman I used Lake House ink. Instead of the robin, this time I added a little tree, also included in the set.

I finished it off with a white heat embossed sentiment from the set. I love how this card has a traditional design and feel in non-traditional colors.
