Vintage Postage Inspired Card Featuring NEW! Flora & Fauna 3

If you love florals, you will definitely want to check out our new release! Specifically, Flora & Fauna 3 and Flora and Fauna 4. Today, I’ve got a card to share with you featuring several of the new Summer 2021 Release items.

I just love vintage floral postage stamps, and new the products in this release are perfect for replicating the look in card form. I started by using the Wplus9 Exclusive Postage Layers Die to create a panel. The Postage Layers Die contains a 5 x 7″ mat and a 4.25 x 5.5″ mat, along with several other sizes for creating postage stamp edges. But I wanted to create a slimline-ish card. So I used the 5 x 7 die along with partial die cutting to create a custom sized mat. By cutting the corners one at a time, I was able to create a 3 1/2 x 6″ panel.

I then masked off about a 1/4″ border using painters tape and did a little ink blending and smooshing using Speckled Egg Distress Ink. Once that had dried, I added bits of text and postmarks using our new Vintage Ephemera stamp set in Warm Wool PURE Color dye ink.

Let’s talk about that gorgeous floral. I couldn’t wait to pull out my watercolors and add some color to it! I opted for some no-line watercolor for this one. I stamped the image in Antique Linen Distress Ink onto Arches Hot Pressed watercolor paper. This is still my favorite ink for no-line watercolor. Other’s work as well, but this is still my personal favorite. I proceeded to watercolor both the butterfly and florals, using a #6 and #2 Princeton Heritage 4050 series round brush with Mungyo watercolors.

After painting, I die cut both using the Flora & Fauna 3 companion die. I finished off the card with some jewels and sequins and a simple sentiment also included in Flora & Fauna 3. And of course, to tie in the gold heat embossed sentiment, I added a few gold splatters.

I mounted the panel onto a 6 1/4 x 4″ card base. Not quite a slimline, but slimline-ish. LOL As long as it fits in an envelope, I’m not too picky about finished size. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. This is one that I actually created LIVE in our Wplus9-Encourage Creativity Facebook group, we’d love to have you join if you haven’t already. And, you can still watch the replay.

Thanks for stopping by today. I just know you’re going to love this release, and if you’re quick, you can take advantage of our limited quantity special bundle prices!
