VIDEO: Piggy Backing a Design

I often create multiple cards from one design, and talk about tweaking a design here and there to create a new card. Well today, I have the process in video form for you! I’ve got several cards to share with you today, but, they all started with this first design and feature the Scandinavian Christmas stamps and die from Honey Bee Stamps.

Once I had created this card, I noticed that I had nine little arrangements that could used as focal points for new cards. And beyond that, each arrangement could be used as a foundation for a larger arrangement. And, because I’m not a fan of creating multiples of the same card – I get bored – swapping out elements, gave me completely different styles and looks. Be sure to watch the video below to see how all of the cards piggy backed off of each other and evolved.

Here are some close ups of the cards featured in the video. Each card uses one of the smaller arrangements from the first card.

From here, I decided to swap the red out for a little white on white action. I love the elegance of the Kaleidoscope 3D Embossing Folder and the simplicity of the design. You could whip up a bunch of these in no time!

Next up, I decided to swap out the background treatment. I opted to use the Nordic Winter Stencil with some white texture paste on Kraft. White on Kraft is an absolute favorite combo of mine. These have a very rustic, woodland vibe.

And of course, I had to include a bit of a wild card. Hey, it’s just were the design went! I used the same stencil, but opted for glitter paste instead of texture paste. In the last card, I had extend the bell arrangement to create a swag. The next natural step would be a full wreath, of course! I also went with a softer color scheme for my stamped elements as well.

I hope that you enjoyed todays cards. Don’t even ask me to choose a favorite, I love them all!
