VIDEO: Create Loose Watercolored Masterpieces Using Stamps
I’ve got another watercolor creation for you today! In my last post, I shared a detailed, layered approach to watercolor. Stamps are perfect for this technique. But, can you use your stamps to create loose, more expressive watercolors as well? Yes, yes you can!
How about that?! I just love the way today’s cards turned out. Many of you know that loose, expressive florals are my personal “ride or die”. Now, this technique requires a bit of practice and lot of “letting go”. But once you get comfortable and confident with your brush and your strokes, you can whip out some real masterpieces in under 20 minutes! Watch below to see what I mean. The video is in real time and you won’t believe how quick it actually is.
You’ll still be a be able to see some of the line work beneath the painting. But this actually adds a sort of charm to the overall look, in my opinion. However, if you do not want any of the stamp to throw through, you can stamp your image with a second generation impression. Ink up your stamp, stamp once on scratch paper and then again onto your watercolor paper without re-inking your stamp.
Of course, I had to make sure this wasn’t a fluke, and that I could easily replicate it several times before sharing, so I created several cards. I stuck with the same image from our Flora & Fauna 3 stamp set (linked in the supply list below) and opted to switch up my card size and image orientation for some variation. The card above is 5 x 7″, as is the card below.
I also created a slim line version and a standard A2 card as well.
