Hi everyone, my name is Jaycee Gaspar and I’m so excited to share three projects I made using Wplus9 – Christmas Rose Bouquet Stamp and Die Set (anticipated to be back in stock next week). These three cards require your coloring skills and a few extra tools to achieve stunning and easy holiday cards to share with those you love. Today’s video tutorial is progressive; I will use individual elements of the stamp set and build on techniques to showcase how you can stretch this and other Wplus9 floral sets.
For my first project, I used only the largest cluster of flowers. I first gold heat embossed it several times onto vellum leaving a space for the sentiment. I used the original sized MISTI to fit the large stamp and vellum to ensure I get a crisp impression for heat embossing. Once I was happy with the vellum and gold embossing, I flipped the panel over to expose the reverse side. I will use Copic markers and color the back sides of the poinsettias and adjacent leaves for a loose watercolor feel. I cut and stacked four white rectangle frames to act as a subtle frame to accent a white heat embossed sentiment. I used Wplus9 Oatmeal Cardstock to act as my background to this card.
To build on this stamp set, I used the smaller individual images included in the set to make my second card project. To keep things interesting, I made smaller clusters of flowers. There is a method to why these clusters are placed where they are on my card front. First, I stamped the smaller images several times onto Copic friendly white cardstock with alcohol friendly black ink. After coloring the images using a color palette that I found online (cool grey, blue-green, and copper/bronze) I cut them out with the coordinating dies. To arrange these flowers, I made small clusters of flowers in a rough triangular shape. Then I arranged these triangular clusters onto my card front in another triangle. Visual triangles create balance and interest in a design—you might see your favorite card designers doing the same thing. I embellished this card with black splatters and added a sentiment strip on grey cardstock.
My final card mixes the last two projects into one new floral arrangement. I love cutting apart floral cluster stamps and making my own arrangement. Sometimes you end up making a new bouquet that works better for you but with an illustration style that you like. So for this project, I used the largest image and all of the smaller images to make my own bouquet. Like the previous project, I stamped the images on a Copic friendly cardstock with permanent ink. I colored the images using Copic markers, but only a select few. I picked images that I knew I could fussy cut cleanly and can hide unfinished seams under other images. Also, like the previous project, I found a color palette like the one I used for this card online. I arranged the flowers in a large triangular cluster and framed the bouquet in a fine rectangle die. I added black splatters to the background and white splatters to the flowers. I inked the sentiment directly onto Wplus9 Oatmeal Cardstock.
I hope you all are inspired to look at your floral stamp set differently and create new arrangements with your stamped images. Thank you all for watching my video and I’m excited to see your projects on Instagram. If you replicate any of these card projects and post them online, make sure you tag me and Wplus9 so that we can take a look. Special thanks to team Wplus9 for sending a few of the items I used on my projects my way. Talk to you all very soon!
