I’m so happy you’ve found our new home! However, we have 10 years of content still accessible on our old blog “Stamp Away With Me” at stampawaywithme.blogspot.com.
How do you choose Guest Artists? Can I be a Guest Artist?
Absolutely! We scout for Guest Artists mostly through social media. Be sure to tag us #wplus9 on Instagram. We love seeing what everyone is creating with Wplus9 products and when something catches our eye, Jana Millen reaches out via email and/or direct message to see if you would be interested in being a Guest Artist.

Watercolor Questions
What is Dawn’s favorite watercolor brand? Paper? Brush?
These are a very personal choice and what works for one person may not work for another. But these are my personal favorites:
- Watercolor – I mostly shop by color, not brand. Please Note: I also paint large pieces that I give as gifts, so I use professional watercolors on these as well as my craft projects. I tend to stick to the following in artist grade tubes:
- Daniel Smith
- Da Vinci
- M. Graham
- If you are only using them for crafting, there is no need to invest in artist grade watercolors. Student grade and even Distress Inks are a great alternative.
- Paper – Here is where I will recommend investing a tad more whether you are doing fine art or crafting. Good paper is the key to good results with higher or lower quality paints and brushes. I prefer:
- Arches – both hot and cold press depending on the technique
- Saunders Waterford
- Fabriano Artistico Bright White – my favorite for detailed floral cards. This 5×7 hot press block is so convenient.
- For watercolor backgrounds where detail isn’t needed, Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock is excellent.
- Brushes – Again, I have a variety of brushes and use whichever I have on hand. For crafting, I think the Ranger Watercolor Brush Multi-Pack is great. These are my most used brushes for fine art:
Does Dawn teach watercolor classes?
I do not teach classes on a regular basis.
However, I do have a class available through Online Card Classes that covers some of my favorite techniques that is perfect for cardmakers. At just $25, with over 30 exclusive videos, it’s a bargain!
