Now on to today’s dose of color. In case you’re like me, and clinging to summer, don’t worry I have a fall color palette that will help get you in the mood.

This card is way different for me but sometimes that’s half the fun of it. I started by heat embossing the Kind Soul stamp set in white on watercolor cardstock.

While I had my stamp in the MISTI I went ahead and created a mask too.

With the mask in place, I used the Wood Planks set and our warm wool ink to create a pretty woodgrain in the background. Once that portion was done I got out all of my distress oxides and started painting. Okay not all, it just felt like it! Don’t worry about watercoloring over our PURE COLOR inks, they’re waterproof so no running!

I actually used three different colors for my woodgrain background and I love all the color variation it gives. Super pretty! Once the background was dry I started on the floral border. I used three colors for each flower and the leaves too.

I told you lots of distress oxides!

Once the entire piece was dry I added a bit of dimension with my copic markers. I love the depth it adds. Be careful around the embossing though. Copic markers will color your embossing. Pretty sure these things can color almost anything! If you do get a little on your embossing no worries. Put a little alcohol on a q-tip and lightly rub it off.

After the coloring was done I splattered on some gold prefect pearls, because, well…gold.and shimmer. The last thing to do was to add my sentiment which I also heat embossed in white. Adding the drop shadow to the sentiment as well really lets it pop off the page!

Be sure to watch the video at the top of this post to see the entire process from beginning to end.

The dustier, more muted tones and colors here are outside of my norm, but I think it looks amazing. However, if you’d like bolder color skip the oxides and head back to the original distress inks. They don’t have the same chalk-like finish, so they give a deeper, more rich look.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to head over to the store and hit that sale up!
