Winter 2019 Release: Winter Greenery
By now, you all know that I am a fool for florals. And I think I might even be more in love with greenery than the flowers themselves. Ferns, eucalyptus, monstera, magnolia leaves, dieffenbachia…yeah, love them all.
Today’s set is is right up my alley. Winter Greenery has a couple of leafy and pine images in two sizes that make creating simple elegant cards a snap. But there are also some fun layers that can really elevate the images, as well as a fun little cardinal for a touch of whimsy.
For this card, I chose to go with greens, blues and reds. I used the same inking technique with Distress Oxide Inks that I mentioned in yesterday’s post. I started with Evergreen Bough and Hickory Smoke on the solid leaf layer. I then added Faded Denim using the detail stamp layer.
For the cardinal, I used light layer of Candied Apple for the base layer and then another layer of Candied Apple for the wing, belly and tail detail layer. Using the sponge daubers to apply the ink to my stamps really allowed me to create such soft blended transitions.
For the background of the card I ink blended a bit of Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough onto opposite corners of a Distress Watercolor Cardstock panel and then added water to create a soft wash.
Once that was dry I stamped the sentiment included in the set in PURECOLOR Black Ink. I stamped a couple of pine sprays directly on the background and then added a cluster of greenery die cut using the companion dies to each corner with foam adhesive.
While I was playing around with this set I stamped a bunch of leaves in all different color combinations. Don’t be afraid to ink these up in different colors and use them all year round.
One of my favorites was combining Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick with Wilted Violet. I decided to pair it with some mixed metals for a very feminine and classy card.
I stamped and die cut several of the smaller leaves and the larger pine sprays from the set. I heat embossed the pine using Ranger embossing powder in Liquid Platinum. Once I had all of my pieces, I arranged them into a wreath and adhered them to a 5 x 6 1/4″ card base with foam adhesive.
I wanted a large statement sentiment, something clean and simple, but bold – the new Peace Banner Die was perfect. Here’s where the mixed metals come in.
I embossed a piece of cardstock using WOW! Embossing Powder in Parissa. It has tones of copper, gold and silver. Each color particle is a different size, so when applied and melted, it creates a mottled effect. LOVE. Then I die cut the word “Peace” from it. When I ran it through the die cut machine it flattens it out and gives the embossing a perfect smooth finish.
I backed it with the shadow die in white to offset it from the busy wreath background and make it stand out.
For the banner, also included in the Peace Banner Die, I used the Script Peace stamp set. This set is currently a FREE GIFT with any $25+ purchase at wplus9.com. It is wonderful on it’s own and compliments the Peace Banner Die beautifully.
For embellishments, I add a bit of gold thread and jewels. I didn’t think it needed much else as that center focal point is so strong.
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at this set. Remember it is available right now…and, there are a limited quantity of Special Savings Bundles for this set. You can pick up the 6×8″ Winter Greenery stamp set and companion die for just $26.99!

Gorgeous cards, love the soft blue tones on the first one!

That chubby little cardinal is so cute! I love the blend of blue-green colors on the leaves, and it pairs so well with the pops of scarlet. That’s got to be one of my favorite winter color combos! I also really like the way the pine branches on the second card give the focal point a sort of nest look.
