Winter 2019 Release: Pine Frame Die

Hello, I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I’ve spent most of mine cleaning house, but you did not come here to hear about that…did you? Ahem, on to more pleasant things.

Today, I wanted to give you a look at the new Pine Frame Die. Now this one is currently out of stock and we do have more on the way, but I did look around at some of our retailers and as of typing this, Simon Says Stamp does have it in stock.

I just love the intricate detail of this die. I started by die cutting 2 of them from white cardstock and adhering them one on top of the other for a little more depth. I adhered them to a Distress Watercolor Cardstock panel that I had ink blended with Distress Inks in Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles. I added some water and moved the inks around a bit to create a soft blended wash.

The large solid oval in the center of this die is generously sized at 3 3/4 x 2 3/4″. Perfectly sized to accommodate all of the stamp sets in our Winter 2019 Release. I decided to use our Winter Sparrow for this card. You can find out more about this sweet set in my previous post here.

The contrast in the color combination on this card is amazing. For the sparrow and berries I used Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber and Candied Apple. For the pine branch I stamped first with Ocean Drive and then again with targeted inking using Distress Oxides in Evergreen Bough and Bundled Sage.

I did a lot of experimenting with inks and inking techniques this release, and I’m so glad that I did. If you’ve not yet tried mixing inks, layering them or even applying them with a dauber/sponge etc., I highly recommend it. You can get some really unique and unexpected results!

To finish off the card, I heat embossed the sentiment (from the same set) using Ranger’s Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I will definitely be sharing more with this die over the next couple of weeks. It’s on the top of my “more love” pile. So many ideas, so little time. Ah, the struggle.

Speaking of, I hope you find some time to get crafty this weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Been enjoying your blog as a “newbie” and enjoying all of your designs including this sweet card. I’m mainly a stamper but love working with a dauber etc. to blend inks and /or give depth. I so agree with you Dawn!

I already placed two orders (couldn’t help myself) and am stalking the store for restocking. Keep feeling the love, Sister!

Everything about this card is perfect, and I can’t wait to play with the winter sparrow – as soon as I can get the sparrow dies. Please restock soon! At least I can start stamping.
